TOLERANSI DAN KERUKUNAN BERAGAMA DALAM AL-QUR’AN DAN HADIS IMPLIKASI BAGI PENDIDIKAN AGAMA ISLAM
Main Article Content
Abstract
Religious diversity in Indonesia requires Islamic Religious Education (IRE) to cultivate tolerance without blurring learners’ commitment to Islamic creed, yet studies of tolerance in the Qur’an and Hadith often remain normative and rarely inform instructional design. This conceptual article aims to identify the values of tolerance and interreligious harmony in the Qur’an and Hadith and to formulate their implications for IRE learning. It employs library research with a thematic content analysis of relevant verses, hadiths, exegetical works, and scholarly literature on tolerance and religious education. The analysis yields six core values: freedom of religion without coercion; justice and kindness toward followers of other religions; human brotherhood; respect for places of worship and sacred symbols; dialogue and the search for common ground; and a clear boundary between the domain of creed and worship and the domain of social relations (mu‘amalah). These values translate into IRE objectives covering moral knowing, moral feeling, and moral action; integrated content; dialogical and reflective strategies; and combined cognitive and non-cognitive assessment. The article offers a value–text–indicator–strategy matrix that educators can use to design tolerance learning rooted in Islamic sources, to be tested in future empirical studies.
